Dear Parents and pupils

We are writing this letter to say thank you very much for supporting us with the Backpack Project. We did this to help children in other countries get an education.

We are happy to say that all our hard work and your kindness has paid off. The backpacks have been filled and collected by Mary’s Meals and they will be put into a container and shipped to anywhere that needs them. We would love to see the smiles on the faces of the children who receive them.

We filled 104 backpacks and collected roughly £218 which will feed about 30 children once a day for a year. All the extra items were sent to the warehouse in Glasgow and used to fill up other backpacks that are missing anything.

We are delighted at everything we have done and thank you again for supporting us in the Backpack Project. Without you we could not have achieved so much.

Yours sincerely

Bobby Neil

Choosing a School: a guide for parents

Parents have the right to express a preference for a particular school that they want their children to attend. This booklet gives information for parents in Scotland about choosing a local council school. It gives a general explanation of the law relating to these placing requests and sets out the procedures that parents and local councils have to follow. If your child has additional support needs you will find advice including information about choosing a school and your appeal rights in The Parents’ Guide to Additional Support for Learning published by Enquire (Enquire details on page 28).

This booklet cannot give a definitive interpretation of the law. That is a matter for the Courts. Information in this booklet should answer most of your questions. If you want more information or have queries, you may wish to contact your local council (see addresses and telephone numbers in the back of the booklet), the head teacher of your local school or Parent Council.
